Build and automate

The sales team was losing 60% of its week to hand-written quotes

Thermoproof’s sales team was spending roughly 60% of its time producing quotes by hand, and the handwritten site notes were causing back office errors for days afterwards. Globosmart built an offline-first site measurement app that captures structured data in the field with no signal and generates the branded quote on the spot.

60%
of sales time recovered

The engagement started as an operations review, not a software project. I spent it watching how the business actually ran.

Two things surfaced. The sales team was losing about 60% of its week to producing quotes by hand. And the handwritten site notes those quotes were based on were generating errors in the back office for days after each visit, on jobs that had already been promised.

What we built

  • Structured capture in the field, working fully offline, because measurements happen in basements and new builds with no signal
  • A branded PDF quote generated on site, while the customer is still standing there
  • Pricing logic encoded once, so a quote no longer depended on who produced it
  • Clean structured data out, ready for the automation phase behind it

The sales team got its week back. The back office stopped interpreting other people’s handwriting.

This is the pattern for the whole practice. Diagnose the operation first, and when the fix turns out to be software rather than process, build it rather than starting a six-month vendor search.
