Pillar 5: Build and automate

Technical Estimating Systems

Globosmart Services designs and builds technical estimating systems for businesses where quoting is slowing down sales. For one client whose sales team was spending 60% of its time producing quotes by hand, we built an offline-first site measurement app that captures structured data in the field and generates the branded quote on the spot.

Your best salesperson is doing arithmetic in a van

Estimating quietly becomes the constraint in a growing service business. The person who can quote accurately is also the person who sells, so every hour spent on measurements and spreadsheets is an hour not spent in front of a customer.

Then the handwritten notes reach the back office, and somebody spends the next two days interpreting them, occasionally wrongly, on jobs that have already been promised.

What we actually do

  • Structured capture in the field, working fully offline where there is no signal
  • Instant branded quote and PDF generation on site, while the customer is still there
  • Pricing logic encoded once, so quotes stop depending on who produced them
  • Clean structured data out, ready for the automation and reporting behind it
  • Integration into your existing CRM and job management system

What we work in: Custom mobile and web applications, built to fit your pricing model.

Questions

How long does a system like this take?
A focused estimating tool is typically four to eight weeks depending on how complex the pricing logic is. The pricing rules take longer to pin down than the software does.
Will it work with no signal on site?
Yes. Offline-first is the default, because field teams work in basements, new builds and rural sites. Data syncs when the device reconnects.
Can it produce the quote in front of the customer?
That is the point. A branded PDF generated on site, while you are still standing there, closes at a materially higher rate than one emailed two days later.
What if our pricing is complicated?
Most are, and it is usually the interesting part. We spend the first phase getting the rules out of people’s heads and written down, which has value even before any software exists.
